Pursat: On Thursday, October 5, 2023, H.E. Sorn Sophal, Director of the General Department of Rehabilitation at the Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation, presided over the opening ceremony of a policy fund aimed at assisting economically disadvantaged individuals with disabilities in the Phnom Kravanh district community of Pursat province. The event witnessed the presence of the Phnom Kravanh District Governor, the Chief of Samrong Commune, and representatives from the Department of Disability Welfare.

During the ceremony, H.E. Sorn Sophal stressed the importance of the Commune Chief, District Governor, and the Department of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation paying special attention to persons with disabilities, especially during natural disasters like floods. He urged them to ensure the prompt and safe evacuation of persons with disabilities in such situations. Additionally, he called upon the Commune Chief, District Governor, and the Department of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation to actively promote the identification of persons with disabilities, facilitating their access to disability identification cards. This, he noted, would enable them to avail themselves of various government benefits and support services.
