Mr. San Ratana, Director of the Department of Disability Welfare at the Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation, is spearheading efforts from October 16 to 18, 2023, to lead the National Committee on the Identification of Disabilities by Social Norm and Basic Rights. This collaborative initiative involves partnering with the Provincial Departments of Social Affairs in Kratie, Stung Treng, and Preah Vihear Provinces to promote disability identification.

The primary objective of this endeavor is to enhance technical capabilities at the capital, provincial, and commune levels, enabling better disability identification based on social norms and basic rights for people with disabilities within these communities.

Not only does this effort aim to provide critical benefits to individuals with disabilities through improved identification, but it will also establish a standardized database of people with disabilities using information technology systems. This database will aid in managing disability-related services, ensuring equitable support and social service, and enhancing inclusivity in alignment with the Royal Government’s commitment to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals.
