Keo Phos Rehabilitation Center Receives Donations from Donors


Preah Sihanouk: On Sunday, October 1, 2023, Mr. Sorn Sophal, the Director of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation, played a key role in facilitating generous donations from philanthropists to support the Keo Phos Rehabilitation Center. Notable contributions included 30 tons of rice and financial assistance of 100,000 KHR per staff (totaling 4,900,000 KHR) from the Governor of Preah Sihanouk Province, Kouch Chamroeun.

Distinguished individuals like Oknha Dr. Mong Reththy also made significant contributions, donating 1,000 USD and 2 pigs, while the President of the Provincial Chamber of Commerce donated 100 packages of instant noodles, 10 boxes of canned fish, 100 packages of fish sauce, 100 packages of soy sauce, 10 packages of condensed milk, 102 boxes of cookies, and a monetary donation of 10,000,000 KHR (ten million riels).

On Monday, September 25, 2023, H.E Chea Somethy, the Minister of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation, held a meeting with individuals undergoing drug treatment services at the Keo Phos Rehabilitation Center. During this session, he encouraged them to engage in sports, exercise, maintain patience, and believe in a society that does not discriminate against victims or former drug users.

H.E. Chea Somethy expressed his sincere hope for the swift recovery of these individuals and their reunion with their families. He encouraged them to leave the past behind and work towards building a brighter future, likening them to young saplings with the potential to become valuable contributors to the nation’s progress.

It’s important to note that the Keo Phos Rehabilitation Center, also known as the National Center for Voluntary and Community-Based Treatment and Rehabilitation for Drug Addicts, is situated in Rithy 2 Village, Keo Phos Commune, Stung Hav District, Preah Sihanouk Province. The center provides essential rehabilitation and vocational training services to aid in the reintegration of drug addicts into communities and families, fulfilling the responsibilities assigned by the Minister of Social Affairs, Veterans and Youth Rehabilitation.
